Without Sanya Myla Cotta’s co-operation and assistance as our ‘liaison officer’ the Indo German Educational and Cultural Society of Goa {IGECS} would not have been able to conceptualise four elaborate music concerts of the series ‘Indo German Music Confluence‘ from 2008 – 2016. These confluences took place after the ‘David Menezes National Violin Competitions’. Sanya herself was the first finalist of this competition held in February 2005.
Sanya’s valuable contribution and efforts to the Indo German Music Confluences brought much recognition with the Musikhochschule Nürnberg, the German Music Council and Goethe Institute.
She took full charge of the content of the rehearsals after discussions with the Conductor, Prof. Ulf Klausenietzer and the Concert Master, Hartmut Krause. It is a fact that through her efforts at the Indo German Music Confluences that the standard of our orchestra musicians has been enhanced.
Following the four Indo German Music Confluences, the Kala Academy organised the first “Paschim Rang Festival of Western Music” in December 2016, where Sanya once again played an important role of co-ordinating with our German music counterparts and Dr. Benedikt Holtbernd, the artisitic manager of the German Music Council, both for classical and Jazz music. We were lucky to have heard the 22 member BuJazzO jazz orchestra performances in December 2016.
While all her performances as a soloist were remarkable at the Music Confluences, the Goan audience was left mesmerized at the IV – Indo German Music Confluence of 7th January 2016 at St. Augustine Tower, Old Goa.
In Goa, IGECS collaborated with OPUS Gala, Directorate of Art and Culture, Kala Academy and Institute Menezes Braganza, the ASI and Sanya Myla Cotta, to whom IGECS is greatly indebted.
